After investigating and talking with Nick, Anton, and Alex. We found that the root problem
is that the client-behavior-renderer was not being set in the faces-config of the
richfaces-components-ui.jar

Once added and integrated into application the page rendered the correct output.

The following code doesn't work in JBoss 6 (snapshot from June 8) but works in Tomcat
6.0.26.
