I created a simple richfaces app using maven archetype
'richfaces-archetype-simpleapp'
Nesting rich:tooltip within a4j:commandButton does not work; used mark up
<a4j:commandButton id="button1" value="B1">
<rich:tooltip>
<span>tooltip1</span>
</rich:tooltip>
</a4j:commandButton>
neither using 'client' mode nor wrapping a4j:commandButton within a4j:outputPanel
as shown below is a workaround
<a4j:commandButton id="button2"
value="B2">
<rich:tooltip mode="client">
<span>tooltip2</span>
</rich:tooltip>
</a4j:commandButton>
<a4j:outputPanel>
<a4j:commandButton id="button3"
