It's ok with the number converter, as a user could enter "0", but with the date converter it's not possible to clean the existing value. We will probably use bypassUpdates="false", just need to be careful with the model date properties (for example, if a user at the end of conversation pressed "cancel"). Yes, we also used the fake date for converting it to null before persistence - it works well, just a bit of hassle not to forget to change it back to null, bad coding.
