Can we setup an automatic way to record & publish daily (email to this mailing list) the IRC transcript from #jboss-as7? Personally I don't want to have a permanent record of #jboss-as7, but I have jbossbot almost trained to keep a rolling log of the past two weeks. Just need a nice snowy weekend to finish it... If people think a conversation is being recorded they will act differently. I'm pretty sure that there is quite a lot of sociology research backing up this point. Not saying recording is good or bad, just that it can change the nature of discussions. We've had good success recording our -dev channels. That's part of the JBoss legacy; it is expected from JBossians to speak their mind. :-) There is a very real need to let people outside the US timezones get in synch with what's going on with the development and IMO having an IRC log would help a lot, that's all. /The logging service Max mentioned says there is a way to escape particular questionable comments from the log: The name of the bot is echelog. If you wish write a line that should be ignored, prefix it with a dash (-).

My reasons are that I would hate for the mailing list to get spammed with IRC conversation. It's much better to summarize discussed topics into a cohesive memo like we do today.
