Upcoming change to Target Platform 4.40.Alpha1-SNAPSHOT: Luna M3

Hi all, Here is a proposal for a new 4.40.0.Alpha1-SNAPSHOT target platform: https://github.com/jbosstools/jbosstools-target-platforms/pull/30 . It consists in the following changes: * JBIDE-16073: Move to Luna M3 ** most projects have contributed a new M3 build ** SWT migrated to GTK+ 3, which is a major change on which one we should provide feedback Please review this PR and yell if there is anything shocking. You can use the following stuff to try to build build the TP locally and try out against your component: Build target-platform: $ cd jbosstools-target-platforms $ git fetch mistria JBIDE-16073 $ git checkout FETCH_HEAD $ cd jbosstools/multiple $ mvn clean install -P \!multiple2repo Then, try to built your component with this local build of the target-platform: $ cd /path/to/your/component $ mvn clean verify -Dtpc.version=4.40.0.Alpha1-SNAPSHOT -Pmultiple In case you notice any issue for you component with Luna M3, create a dedicated bug to track the migration, and link it as a dependency from JBIDE-15639, so we now which projects require migration effort. In case you're not working on JBoss Tools 4.1.1 any more, please make the migration to Luna your top-priority before implementing new features in 4.2.0.Alpha1, as we'd like to release a 4.2.0.Alpha1 soon, hopefully against Luna. Hibernate .project files

Hi, Not long ago all .project and .classpath files were deleted from plugins in hibernate master branch. It's very inconvenient when setting up a new workspace or after resetting for the existing one. Is there any purpose for not having .project's in the repo?

FYI: Parent pom 4.2.0.Alpha1-SNAPSHOT updated to use Luna M3 target platform

As part of the work to get us building w/ Luna [0], and because almost all the projects [1], [2] can now compile with Luna M3, I've set the default target platform [3] in the parent pom in master branch to use Luna [4] instead of Kepler. ACTION REQUIRED: JST reorganization in JBT 4.2.0.Alpha1

Hi, We are going to merge org.jboss.tools.jst.jsp, *.jst.text.ext, *.jst.css plug-ins into org.jboss.tools.jst.web.ui and also remove *.jst.firstrun, *.jst.verification, *.jst.tiles and *.jst.tile.ui at all. See details here - https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-16019 Slava created pull requests for base, jst, vpe and central components. I'm going to review base and jst components and if everything is OK then merge them into master on next Monday. ACTION REQUIRED: Prevent your component from installing in Luna (if it's incompatible w/ Luna APIs) :: JBIDE-16082

TL;DR: If your component: * has to change in the *master branch* in order to *compile with* or *install to* Eclipse 4.4 (Luna) You must: * ensure that in BOTH the *4.1.x and 4.1.1.x branches* it will NOT be *installable* into Luna. See JBIDE-16082. Please make this change in time for the CR1a respin (by EOD, Friday Nov 22). ---- Details: In JBIDE-15639, a number of components have been shown to not compile w/ Luna: Server, Arquillian, Hibernate, Forge. These components must therefore be updated in master branch (for JBT 4.2 / JBDS 8.0) to be compilable w/ Luna (Eclipse 4.4). This ongoing work needs to be done by next week's code freeze. But the converse should be true, too: if the code must change in master to *compile* with Luna, then the Kepler-based release should *probably* not be *installable* into Luna either. Component leads, you're the experts for your own code. If you agree, then please adjust one or more MANIFEST.MF files to set an upper bound limit on a Bundle-Require, which will prevent your component from being installed into Luna.
