I have continued with reproducing this issue with the following findings:
It seems that it is *metamer related issue*, because:
# I tried to minimize metamer example to the state it is working.
# The sample is working when attribute {{valueChangeListener}} of editor is bound with
another listener.

# When the listener is changed for one which does not use

method, the issue disappears.
I also found that it is not myfaces related issue and can be reproduced on all browsers.
The only difference is that with mojarra the rendered output is generated even with the JS
errors on the console and with myfaces it is not.
Further investigation why the log method causes the issue is needed. As it is metamer
related I am moving the issue into the RFPL project.

When the rich:editor is submitted by a4j:commandButton which renders an output area, the
output area stays empty. This can be reproduced in Metamer -
faces/components/richEditor/simple.xhtml.
