Agree this would be a good feature. Have you tried applying validation or bean validation
constraints? That might do it, but not sure atm.

It would be useful if you can specify the max number of characters within the input field
of the calendar component. For this, add the attribute maxlength.
It should be like the h:inputText component: <h:inputText value="..."
maxlength="10"/>
