I think the parameter works for me, even with MyFaces (1.2.4). I debugged the
AjaxStateManager in HttpSession with a heap profiler - there´s an int-Variable
"numberOfViews" which has the size of 15 by default. After the setting this size
of this variable is 2 (which is what i set) and the instance (after all the HttpSession)
it is consuming less heap.

AjaxStateHolder saves all views in the session. But the same view can occur several times
in this "cache"; the views from this "cache" are not reused and just
fill the session. If an application has many large views and deals with many concurrent
sessions, the heap can easily grow up to Gigabytes(!)
