Steven Hawkins updated TEIID-2253:
----------------------------------
Summary: Multi-source issues (was: Multi-source isssues)
With the limitation of not supporting implicit same source joins, we could add support for
multi-source from a runtime perspective via a post processing metadata repository. The
idea would be that prior to metadata validation the merged metadatastore can be made
available to a metadata respositories supporting an additional interface. In this case,
multi-source virtual models would be created with these repositories. Additional
properties could be specified via the model properties, such as what schemas to stitch
together via partitioned union vies, what the multi-source column name is, etc.
While fairly easy to implement, this would be a hybrid approach between the existing
multi-source logic and partitioned views.
This approach would also preclude allowing multi-source sources to be dynamic. However
that is currently not well supported by the current multi-source approach as cached plans
have a fixed set of multi-source targets.
