(My environment: JBossAS 5.1.0.GA, Sun Java 1.6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2) I've been able to connect remotely to a JBossAS instance with jconsole and see JBoss and JVM mbeans on the MBeans tab. However, the rest of the jconsole tabs were greyed out. Then I've tried to connect to the same JBossAS instance with jconsole from Sun Java 1.5. That resolved the issue.
