When I am using (in Tomcat) OpenJPA with the same Database, it (OpenJPA) is able to create

The reason why Hibernate does NOT create the tables is that I am using this:
@Id
@GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO)
private String id;

EclipseLink and OpenJPA don't mind String as the PK ...
