[JBoss JIRA] (JGRP-2073) RELAY with pbcast.NAKACK2 instead of pbcast.NAKACK in Stack is not functiona
by Roman Fischer (JIRA)
Roman Fischer created JGRP-2073:
-----------------------------------
Summary: RELAY with pbcast.NAKACK2 instead of pbcast.NAKACK in Stack is not functiona
Key: JGRP-2073
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JGRP-2073
Project: JGroups
Issue Type: Bug
Affects Versions: 3.6.9, 3.6.8, 3.6, 3.5, 3.4.3, 3.3
Environment: tested with windows7 64 bit; oracle java version 1.8.0_60 64bit
Reporter: Roman Fischer
Assignee: Bela Ban
I have tested with the RelayDemo as the Description in the jgroups manual together with the udp.xml from the 3.6.9 jgroups Version.
At the Moment if the bridge-cluster is aktiv, the system sent continuously null messages to all Members.
if we replace pbcast.NAKACK2 with pbcast.NAKACK the demo is ok.
So i have seen it is planned to remove NAKACK in the Future - i create this issue.
Thanks for the nice software!

I added a new commit to my pull request, reducing the default {{max_block_time}} to 500ms. I would like to reduce it even further, but I think that would need some cooperation from {{UNICAST3}} to retransmit dropped messages sooner.

[JBoss JIRA] (JGRP-2072) UFC and MFC headers get mixed up
by Dan Berindei (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JGRP-2072?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.... ]
Dan Berindei commented on JGRP-2072:
------------------------------------
I don't know how I missed the fact that the {{prot_id}} is now stored in the {{Header}}... that definitely explains why my fix works.
IMO replenish/credit request messages are pretty rare, so {{FlowControl}} could just create new instances every time, and even put the number of credits inside the headers instead of the message buffer.

[JBoss JIRA] (JGRP-2072) UFC and MFC headers get mixed up
by Bela Ban (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JGRP-2072?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.... ]
Bela Ban commented on JGRP-2072:
--------------------------------
The problem is that I recently changed the way headers are stored in {{Message}} and this included setting {{prot_id}} in a header when getting added to a message. However, the problem is that {{FlowControl}} uses statically pre-created instances of replenish and credit headers:
{code:java}
protected final static FcHeader REPLENISH_HDR=new FcHeader(FcHeader.REPLENISH);
protected final static FcHeader CREDIT_REQUEST_HDR=new FcHeader(FcHeader.CREDIT_REQUEST);
{code}
Since these headers are used by both {{UFC}} and {{MFC}}, {{Message.putHeader()}} will overwrite {{prot_id}}. The solution is to precreate separate headers for UFC and MFC.
