Splitting up org.jboss.tools.jst.jsp
by Marshall Culpepper
Hey guys..
Another suggestion. I've been browsing around the source of
org.jboss.tools.jst.jsp, and I think JSPMultiPageEditor could easily be
renamed/refactored into a "org.jboss.tools.wst.html" plugin without the
current "JSP" nomenclature as something like "HTMLMultiPageEditor". I'm
looking to create my own templates/editor based on this code (for
Appcelerator's widgets & javascript), and it would be awesome if I could do
so without requiring unnecessary dependencies (like JSP templates/support
code)

How to keep track of ResourceBundle keys?
by Sean Flanigan
G'day all,
I gather that a lot of the Tools code already uses externalised strings
(ie using ResourceBundles to fetch strings from .properties files), and
I don't think it uses the English text as the key (the way GNU gettext
does in Linux land), but rather the usual Java convention of artificial
string keys like "SharedIntroConfigurer_gettingstarted_nav".
I personally prefer the English-as-key approach (smaller code changes,
somewhat more readable code, and no artificial keys to keep track of),
but artificial keys have their advantages too, and of course it's
important to maintain a consistent approach.
Do you have any tools or scripts that you use to manage the artificial
keys, make sure they're unique, remove obsolete keys, things like that?
How do you deal with this sort of thing?
Sean.

JBIDE-2173 & JBIDE-2162 - performance improvement (for MySQL?)
by Vitali Yemialyanchyk
Max, hi.
I'd like to discuss JBIDE-2173 & JBIDE-2162.
>From our JBIDE-2162 discussion:
"I try debug DatabaseMetaData code and seems I find the reason. The main
problem here - for each table extracted all foreing keys for all tables:"
This is of course JBIDE-2173 and it seems here are the problems only with
MySQL - I have check Postrgre and got better performance (Postrgre has no
problems with performance).
Also I try to study the problem to find common workaround for it - and seems
it exist!
Now to get foreing keys we are using
getMetaDataDialect().getExportedKeys
but it possible to use
getMetaDataDialect().getImportedKeys
and we will get much better performance - I have check it - it possible and
we will get performance O(n) instead of O(n^2) for MySQL.
Seems this have a sense, isn't it?
About JDBCReader - when I try to modify it I saw some potential problem here
-
This is code to add table into dbs:
Table table = dbs.addTable(quote(getSchemaForModel(schemaName)),
getCatalogForModel(catalogName), quote(tableName));
This is code to get table from dbs:
dbs.getTable(schemaName, catalogName, tableName)
obvious that here will be a problem with quotes.
I think the better way incorporate quotes process into DatabaseCollector.
Best regards,
Vitali

by Denny Xu

About the ESB project structure, I have sent a ESB project structure screen shot before,
As max suggestion, some folder should be user controlable, and some certain folder such as "META-INF"
, do you guys have any thoughts or suggestions about it?
Thanks
