Ok, let's simplify. We think menu like
Tools > Screenshot > Save //save image into folder chosen in preferences
Save as... //opens dialog
Copy image to clipboard//copies
image to clipboard for easy editing
will be simple and useful.

But the preview isn't really useful - just need it saved.

Okey, so how about we just keep this simple and have:
File > Save Screenshot... -> shows save as.. dialog.
Edit > Copy Screenshot -> copies image to clipboard for easy pasting.
