Hi all,
With https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBDS-3285 , we'll most likely need
to adopt snapshots of EGit/JGit 4.0 in our target-platform for JBT 4.3.
What are the impacted modules? Do you already expect some issues related
to this move? Are you actively following JGit/EGit changes to react to
them ASAP?
In short, would it be OK to adopt snapshots from now on?

I'm pretty sure very few if any is actively using latest snapshot.
Won't this be included in the upcoming M6 so we can get it into the TP?
If not, then make the TP PR for the snapshot and we can run the build to find out if
anything breaks ?
Btw. The only two parts I know that uses jgit/egit directly is thym and OpenShift.

In the OpenShift v2 tooling I am depending on a few internal classes to
show a customized commit dialog when pushing to OpenShift. Even though
not ideal there was not obvious better way to achieve that, given that
EGit is poorly written and very much not with extensibility in mind (the
plan was to provide a PR though). I thus pretty much expect OpenShift v2
to break. Could we please provide a smooth transition and give me some
time to provide the required changes?

For the Easymport
wizard, I asked to turn some classes and methods as
APIs, and Matthias has helped with that. I guess EGit can open APIs on
request, and for sure, providing Gerrit patches makes it faster. Note
that since they're moving to a 4.0, it's the right time to
request/propose API changes.
I got confirmation on the egit-dev mailing-list that Mars M6 will
include a milestone of EGit 4.0, that will be part of our TP when we
move to M6.

yes I loosely followed this discussed. Beside that I guess that this is
not enough for my usage of the commit dialog. It was clearly not
implemented with extensibility in mind. I'll have to fill PRs for that
to fit my needs.

Yes I think I'll have to do that. On the other hand not sure how much
time I'll have for that given that we need v3 tooling this june.

The cut off happens when Eclipse M6 goes out - so thats in 4 days.
How much time do you need ?

jbosstools-aerogear, FeedHenry component uses EGit and JGit. It uses an
internal API from EGit.
And indirectly Thym uses JGit.

not checked if our public/private API uses impacted on 4.0.

Sounds like both OpenShift and Aerogear should take a look at what
internal API we use
and at least open bugzilla to request some of this gets upgraded to API
?
