I should have updated the status a while ago. It was coding in progress based upon the
simple interface initially described, since it would fit nicely with the existing logic
and would not depend on non-public apis. Since that didn't meet your needs this issue
stalled.

I'd like an API to implement fine grained security checks. The use case is to create
a permission from each table+column requested, each stored procedure and other database
objects and validate the user id and permission against an external security manager.
