May be it is due to our usage of Prepared Statements in the translator? One way to check
is set "useBindVaribales" to false in the translator override properties and
re-run the query in the DV

When using the JDBC jars for Hive 0.13.1 running on HDP 2.1, queries executed against
table 'default.sample_07' takes approximately 20-30 seconds to return.
