I could not find an issue for JSR-160 over Remoting although that would make more sense
for me as well so we can use the existing SASL mechanisms for JMX as well.

SSL can potentially be enabled for the JMX subsystem, as this is management the
configuration should be obtained from the domain realm.
The configuration will then be consistent for the HTTP interface, the Native interface
and JMX.
