Internationalization of JBoss Portal Identity Library
-----------------------------------------------------
Key: JBPORTAL-1911
URL:
http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBPORTAL-1911
Project: JBoss Portal
Issue Type: Patch
Security Level: Public(Everyone can see)
Affects Versions: Identity-1.0.1
Reporter: Piotr Kubowicz
Attachments: identity-i18n.patch
Currently it's very hard to customize JBoss Portal in terms of localisation. Most
strings are hard-coded, but even worse, there's a portal identity library, which is
packaged as a JAR in portal lib directory, thus causing introducing localised login
messages very hard and obscure (it's even hard to find out, what to change to get
login messages localised).
I suggest a simple patch starting internationalization of the Identity Library. What
remains is only to add more languages. I have tested the patch JBoss Portal 2.6.4 and it
works just fine.
Note that it won't work out of the box, because JBoss Portal generally does not
support internationalization: all JSP pages use ISO 8859-1 encoding. I have submitted a
patch to login page (
http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBPORTAL-1874), which sets
character encoding to UTF-8 on the login page and together with it everything works fine.
