Steps to reproduce: 1) Set up a single URL rewriting rule for jboss.web engine that redirects root requests: RewriteRule ^/$ /admin-console/ [R] At this point everything works and http://localhost:8080/ becomes http://localhost:8080/admin-console/ 2) As the ROOT.war is now inaccessible, remove or rename it.
