We essentially need to read packets from socket and pass them to receive method of TP. In UDP we have the same code *repeated* to read packets from multicast and unicast socket. Unify packet reading into one class - PacketReceiver and use PacketReceiver for both unicast and multicast socket. Use features of JDK5 as well.
