The EsbListenerController is dead meat. The new controlling process for message aware
listeners is the 'ListenerManager' interface, and it's default implementation:
DefaultListenerManager.
So, MessageAwareListener has a constructor (using your words: a 'proper'
constructor) that takes two arguments: ListenerManager and ConfigTree.

Anything that is no longer needed (classes, interfaces or methods) should be deprecated
and any of our code that uses them updated. Only user code (outside of our distribution)
should be using deprecated code. However, we agreed that old code wouldn't be deleted
until after the 4.0 release, just in case! So can we just make sure deprecation tags are
in place?
As long as this dead code isn't used within the ESB core itself, then we should pick
up the places it is used in the examples before the release.

So as it turns out, the quickstarts etc are essentially broken as they stand because they
use this code. So, I wouldn't see a problem with updating these wherever this code is
used (plus some comments), while leaving them "broken". At least whoever comes
along to fix it, will be trying to fix against the new and correct code and will have
comments to guide them.

Too easily missed on its own IMO.
I don't know how many times I've seen people use deprecated code without even
realising it - I'm sure I've done it myself. Also, there's the point that
this code simply doesn't work anymore from what I can see - it's more than a case
of it having a "FarBetter" alternative.
