Since you mentioned log4j.xml, I am going ot assume that you are using a really old version of JBoss AS, such as 4.0.x or 3.2.x. On a 32-bit system each process is limited to 4GB of address space. 2GB of that is used by the OS (handles and other data used by the OS to service your app), Some of the low memory is occupied by stuff that dates back to MS-DOS. Much of the memory area just below the 2GB mark is occupied by system DLLs (even the JVM DLLs are compiled to load just below that area). The java.exe code loads just above the MS-DOS area. This leaves the memory between the java.exe code and the JVM DLLs available to run the Java app. The JVM reserves some room for the thread stacks. Given that, the largest heap space I have been able to use is around 1.7GB (the exact number changes with the exact level of the OS and service packs and at time with patches). You set the permgen to 512MB - this reduced the available space for your heap by that amount, so a 1.3GB max for you sounds about right. Hi, I've deployed an application to jboss, which uses some third party libraries and these libraries use java.util.logging for logs. I want to enable TRACE level logging for those specific APIs. I tried to set the log level to TRACE in log4j.xml file in conf directory of JBoss but it doesn't set the log level to TRACE for those particular libraries, the logging information for those libraries is still DEBUG level. Can anyone please let me know how can I set TRACE level logging for java.util.logging package in JBoss? Its only multiple persistence managers in that there are multiple jboss servers sharing the same database (and trying to write over each other's data). The example I gave was different users, but it could equally be a test and production environment. So you could have the test environment use JMS_MESSAGES_TEST as the name so it doesn't interfere with the normal JMS_MESSAGES table (and the same for the transactions). The 4.2.x release of jboss includes an example of mssql 2005 config in docs/examples/jca JBossMQ should work with any jdbc compliant driver, though you might need to tweak the create tables (we usually reccommend creating them by hand anyway so you can allocate space and maybe alter the indexes to tune the queries?).
