[Remoting] - Worker thread initialization failure
by vaidya1973
Hi,
I have been using jboss 4.0.4.GA and have been happy with it . When i switched over to use jboss 4.2.1, I am getting the following marshalling exceptions ..

Has anyone seen this error ? I tried the following
1. got the remoting jars from the previous 4.0.4 GA releases as someone suggested and replaced the one in 4.2.1 server all directories with it
2. got a version of remoting jars compiled with 1.4 jdk and replaced it.
Still not working.. Can someone please help me..

[JBoss Seam] - Schedule Reports to Run Daily at Certain Time
by djeverson
We have a requirement to produce daily reports that are always ran at the same time of the day. These reports are run in a "batch" mode.
Within our Seam application, users can also schedule their own reports to run based on their preference.
To meet the second requirement, we have configured our Seam 2.0.1CR1 application to use Quartz, persisting cron expressions and report values in the database based on the user's preferences. This is working fine.
Our challenge is in meeting the first requirement (batch/non-user specific reports).
We have followed the suggestions found in http://in.relation.to/Bloggers/DoingSomethingAtStartupWithSeam to schedule a Quartz job at startup. This works fine the first time that JBoss is restarted. However, each additional time that JBoss is restarted a new job is added to the database.
Is there any easy way of addressing this requirement in Seam? I was thinking that the "batch"/non-user specific reports could be schedule in memory in Quartz so that the schedule is not maintained across restarts.
Another option would be for me to manually add the job to the database (via a SQL script). However I don't know the format of some of the serialized blobs.
Any suggestions on how we could realize our requirements using Seam/Quartz?
Environment: JBoss 4.2, Seam 2.0.1CR1, Quartz 1.6, MySQL 5

[Beginners Corner] - JBoss, JNDI and BMP's
by roberthart6650
I am new to JBoss and hope someone is willing/able to help with this problem. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I've successfully deployed Session Beans and performed JNDI lookups on them, but cannot seem to do the same with a BMP. I've read many posts and tried a number of different things to no avail.
There are no compile errors and when I deploy the BMP, JBoss gives no errors to indicate there is a problem. When I run a test program that performs a lookup on the ejb it fails with the error "ejb not bound". In the case of the error it is referring to the ejb directory node where I am attempting to register the BMPCustomer ejb.
When I access the JBoss JMX Console, I can see the CustomerApplication and Customer.jar (contains the BMPCustomer ejb) deployed. However, when I use the JNDIView bean under the console to view the JNDI listing, it doesn't contain an "ejb" node or any reference, anywhere, for the BMPCustomer ejb. However, the persistence unit associated with the ejb is registered under the Global JNDI Namespace, so it seems to be registering some of the components.
The following are the JBoss log, ejb-jar.xml file, jboss.xml file and the code snippet used to perform the JNDI lookup.
The following is the JBoss log...

[Clustering/JBoss] - JBoss TreeCache
by edietsmda
Hello,
I currently have JBoss 4.0.3SP1 and have it running using clustering. When I start my 1st node, it seems it retains all the previous instances of that node in the TreeCache. I'm trying to clear this cache. View below -

I tried logging in thru the jmx-console and using the MBeans provided to clear this, but I am unsuccessful. Any guidance would be appretiated.

[Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Re: cant start jboss 5 beta 3 from eclipse (needs WTP2 to co
by wiggy
its the wtp2.0 base that provides the timeout option
- kinda remebered hearing about and my europa build came with wtp1.5 like most peoples i think.
I found you update after i tried to get a complete new build.
I had to go to the eclipse wtp site and got the 3.4m3 build and overlaid all the dependency files and fired it up. It came up okay and when i built my server config i had the timeout option.
I increased that to three minutes and it started the server horray.
However (theres always one) when i imported my application and reset the server runtime options (to pick up the new jboss libraries) i keep getting an error (seems fairly random) about my persistence.xml which says
"Invalid content (no root node)" and puts the whole project invalid. If I rename the project this sometimes fixes it - only for something else to pop up.
Not sure why - I have also installed the boss tools GA ontop of my eclipse 3.4M3 - so not sure whether its an eclipse issue or a jboss tools one.
All abit weird. I'm just returning to my 4.2.2 server /europa build a bit longer i think and see what happens on 3.4M4
somewhat frustrated but thats what you get for running on the cutting edge of builds i guess.
thanks for help.
For any one else out there with timeout issues - you need WTP2.0
