[Beginners Corner] - Error Creating EntityManagerFactory
by blima17
I am evaluating JBoss using a current application. This app will auto-unpack and deploy w/o a hitch in glassfish, tomcat, and oc4j, but when I try to deploy it in JBoss (5.01), I get the following errors...sorry for the long stacktrace. Any Ideas?
10:36:21,201 INFO [[/myapp]] Initializing Spring root WebApplicationContext

[Beginners Corner] - Re: your current Jboss evaluation
by jaikiran
"Aldian_00" wrote : Is there nobody to answer me? I don't understand how it is possible. On the mailing list and forum of Jonas, Geronimo and Glassfish whose communities are theoretically far smaller than the JBoss one, I had an answer very fast.
I don't know how to answer this. First off i don't think asking this question in the "Beginners forum" is the right place, but i don't know which other forum to redirect you (and that's the reason why i said i don't know how to answer this :) )
"Aldian_00" wrote :
| So I begin to wonder wether JBoss is as performant as the rumor says, since there is nobody on the forum to speak for it :(.

That wouldn't be a correct criteria to judge JBoss (or any other server) for that matter :)
So coming back to your original questions:
anonymous wrote : About JBoss, what evaluation (please give a mark from 1=worst to 10=best) would you give concerning the following tests?
|
I wont provide any ratings here, instead i'll provide some details about how JBoss does things in each of these categories. Then maybe you could compare this information against the other servers and rate them yourself. If you need more information, you can then ask specific questions :)
anonymous wrote : * easy to install
JBoss AS comes as a zipped archive. Installation is as simple as unzipping it to any folder on your system. Can't be any easier than that :)
anonymous wrote : * easy deployment
Deployment is again as simple as the installation itself. JBoss has a predefined folder named "deploy" where you can place your deployables. That's all, JBoss will pick it up and deploy it. If required you can configure any other folder of your choice by just changing a value in a configuration file.
anonymous wrote : * easy administration
What type of administration are you looking for? And that reminds me one more question - which version of the server are you interested in? AS-4.x or the newer 5.x version?
anonymous wrote : * easy IDE interfacing
I won't call this an AS question. Instead its a question about the tools available for developing applications for AS. JBoss Tools provides such an IDE with a whole lot of features. If you have any specific questions the correct forum for IDE questions is this http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewforum&f=201
anonymous wrote : * easy developement
Again, more of an integration with AS for development question. With the JBoss Tools IDE or even plain Eclipse (if you don't want the integration) can be used for development.
By the way, what's going to be output of this survey? :) Are you going to publish this to community (since you are asking for inputs from the community)? :)

[JBoss Portal] - CMS
by vantek
Hi.
in my *-object.xml files, i have cms windows referring files, not present by default. Is there any way to deploy them automatically, without creating them manually in CMS administration (boring when a lot of files)?
I saw here ( http://www.jbossworld.com/2008/downloads/pdf/friday/11-1150am_JBoss_Porta... ) that default content were in "server\default\deploy\jboss-portal.sar\portal-cms.sar\portal\cms\conf\default-content" and that there is a jboss-service.xml in META-inf folder to configure, but i want to define same thing in my project (then i'll just have to deploy the war on a fresh jboss portal server, and basta)
how can i do? what do i have to redefine? do i just have to copy/paste this jboss-service.xml to my META-INF folder (and configure the DefaultContentLocation attribute) ?
my config :
Eclipse 3.3 on Win XP, Jboss tools, jBoss portal 2.7.1 with jBoss AS 4.2.3
thanks a lot in advance.
ps : here is the jboss-service.xml from \deploy\jboss-portal.sar\portal-cms.sar\META-INF

[JBossWS] - Re: Changing of soap:address location
by janekdb2
I was able to edit jbossws.beans/META-INF/jboss-beans.xml to change this
| <soap address location="http://127.0.0.1:11011/ws/t"/>
|
to the public facing url,
| <soap address location="http://www.mydomaine.com:80/ws/t"/>
|
Versions:
JBoss 4.2.2.GA
JBossWS Native 3.0.3.GA
libapache-mod-jk 1.2.18-3
apache 1.3.34-4.1
Changed part of jboss-beans.xml
| <!-- An abstraction of server configuration aspects. -->
| <bean name="WSServerConfig" class="org.jboss.wsf.stack.jbws.NativeServerConfig">
| <property name="mbeanServer"><inject bean="WSMBeanServerLocator" property="mbeanServer"/></property>
|
| <!--
| The WSDL, that is a required deployment artifact for an endpoint, has a <soap:address>
| element which points to the location of the endpoint. JBoss supports rewriting of that SOAP address.
|
| If the content of <soap:address> is a valid URL, JBossWS will not rewrite it unless 'modifySOAPAddress' is true.
| If the content of <soap:address> is not a valid URL, JBossWS will rewrite it using the attribute values given below.
|
| If 'webServiceHost' is not set, JBossWS uses requesters protocol host when rewriting the <soap:address>.
| -->
| <!--
| <property name="webServiceHost">${jboss.bind.address}</property>
| -->
| <property name="modifySOAPAddress">true</property>
|
| <!--
| Set these properties to explicitly define the ports that will be used for rewriting the SOAP address.
| Otherwise the ports will be identified by querying the list of installed connectors.
| If multiple connectors are found the port of the first connector is used.
| <property name="webServiceSecurePort">8443</property>
| <property name="webServicePort">8080</property>
| -->
| <property name="webServicePort">80</property>
| </bean>
|
I commented out the webServiceHost property and uncommented the webServicePort port setting it to 80.
It would be better if JBossWS could also get the port from the requesters protocol port.
