[Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Scheduler Service Setup with Seam Application Code

Hey all. I am currently in the process of setting up a Seam Web Application. I have a Startup class that runs when the application starts and it is responsible for running several queries against a database. The information returned is then stored in the application context. I would like to create a scheduler service that mimics this process every hour. I am having trouble with this setup. I have read one post where a user added the appropriate scheduler-service.xml file to the web apps WEB-INF folder. I tried that and it didn't work for me. Serveral other posts suggested creating a SAR file and putting the webapp under there.
EX.
test.sar

|

|-> test-ds.xml
When I tried this approach, my datasource was unbound. Any ideas or best practices to solve my problem would be much appreciated.

the above should read "UserPasswordLoginModule", not AbstractServerLoginModule.

basically, i tried subclassing UserPasswordLoginModule and this proved fruitless. i eventually just subclassed AbstractServerLoginModule. it seems the fact that identity and the other attributes of AbstractServerLoginModule are private was causing me all sorts of headaches.
i would suggest either of the two avenues for the implementations in the org.jboss.security.auth.spi package:
1) either mark the classes as final so that it is apparent to developers that these classes are not designed for subclassing.
2) change the attributes to protected so that subclasses are given proper access to the internal attributes.

[EJB/JBoss] - Jboss shutdown hangs

Please let me know if this is not appropriate forum for this question. When we stop jboss it just hangs. When I look at the stack trace it says "waiting for monitory entry"

[Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - JBoss 5.0.1 and Oracle XSQL

I am trying to deploy a web app (EAR/WAR) that uses XSQL.
If I include xercesImpl-2.2.1.jar, JBoss won't deploy (SAX Parser issue).
If I exclude that jar, the app deploys, but i get two issues:
1. It complains about not being able to find the jdbc driver, but executing the page a second (and subsequent) time works.
2. I get this execution error:

I suspect this is caused by an incompatibility between the org.apache.xerces.* classes in JBoss vs the ones in xercesImpl-2.2.1.jar ?
Has anyone successfully used XSQL with JBoss 5 ?
