i now believe it is a bug. there is a disconnect between the servers and the run configure dialogs. when i try to add the run configure, my server does not show up in the drop down list. i also try to change the .launch file under .metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.debug.core\.launches. but the moment i start the server, the configure file is over written. it looks like the configuration is really written in a lucene index and is fetched.
