Are you getting any errors in your console log? Do you see two lines that looks like this: 2009-11-20 12:03:28,485 INFO [Http11Protocol] (main) Starting Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-127.0.0.1-8080 2009-11-20 12:03:28,516 INFO [AjpProtocol] (main) Starting Coyote AJP/1.3 on ajp-127.0.0.1-8009 They should appear right before the "started in xxx seconds" message. What OS are you using? And which version of JBoss AS?
