At what point does it hang? During deploying? When you see that the server is hung, obtain
the thread dump as mentioned at:

http://www.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=StackTrace

This will display a list of threads and the activities that are going on in the background
and will help you in identifying the cause of a hang(if any)
