certainly it is our ambition to realize these capabilities in 4.1 or 4.2. the most difficult part will be to manage DB schema and data migration as we build out those features. yet another post related to jbpm4 history. :P This one is related to the overall roadmap/approach towards logging historical information. Auditing and History information is one of the more critical pieces of data that needs to be persisted as part of the workflow processes. So I was wondering what the plan was towards supporting some of that stuff, eg: 1.) A task is re-assigned from 'PersonA' to 'PersonB' by 'PersonC' on 'Date1'. 2.) The DueDate of a Task is changed from 'date1' to 'date2'. 3.) Priority of a Task is changed from 'NORMAL' to HIGH. Now in v3, some of these could be tracked using things like the TaskAssignLog. There is no way to do that in jbpm4, as yet. The current approach tracks and store historical activities/tasks, but does not store any changes that might have been made to the actual task/activity except for the fact that it is completed. Changes to the activities themselves are not recorded. IS there any plan/thought as to how that will be done? that is a target. but we'll be only able to bring this to the surface in the mid term if you're able to compile the code, then look at the test-pojo module. but that usage is not yet stable. getting the programmatic, non-persistent api stable is going to take more time. initially i overlooked tasks and comments with respect to runtime/history split. that today, i added a history task today and moved the comments to the history data. this is in line with the new split up: history data remains and runtime data only contains the current runtime state. that way the history tasks and the comments will be available after the tasks themselves are completed. Hi, I want to use jBPM, or even, extend PVM with my customizations to make a simple service orchestration language. All of it, needs to run in memory, with no persistence at all. First of all, I`m trying to create a Repository to deploy my Deployments, but I see hibernate is needed for PVM. Can I avoid it using a custom DeploymentImpl and RepositorySessionImpl? To keep things consistent, I think it would be a good idea to see if we can add a String based id to task/activity too. So just as we have processinstance ids as SimpleProcess.1, would it not make sense to have something similar for Tasks? thoughts? I agree, we need some reference to the original id so that it can be linked back to the client application. This is a very key feature in a couple of jbpm v3 implementations that we currently have at our end.
