I've updated to 1.2_12, which is the latest version. For reference, JBoss 5 was
released with 1.2_10, but I don't see any harm in moving to the latest now.

Asynchronous mail has been broken for quite a long time. According to JIRA-3187 the fix
is to upgrade JSF. Unfortunately issue seems to have been forgotten (marked as Out of
Date), Seam still has JSF 1.2_09BETA1.
