I was able to eliminate this exception by changing line 890 in LdapIdentityStore from this: Attributes result2 = ctx.getAttributes(roleDN, returnAttribute); To this: Attributes result2 = ctx.getAttributes(new javax.naming.ldap.LdapName(roleDN), returnAttribute);
