To me that behavior makes sense. It's possible you might want to validate the equality
only if they do enter a value in the second field. In most cases adding
required="true" to the second field should fill the requirement.

Extension of h:inputSecret.
Renders two input fields. Attaches a validator by default that checks both fields are the
same. Use like
<s:inputPassword value="#{identity.password}" />
Advantages: No backing bean logic required, validation done at correct point
