Jose, I'd hold off on pushing any fix through. It appears that this is going to get
fixed downstream. See http://java.net/jira/browse/JAVASERVERFACES-2040. Its marked as a
blocker so hopefully it will get fixed soon.
With regards to facets, is it possible to use facets with the original input container but
not require them?

When posting a form using a composite of type org.jboss.seam.faces.InputContainer and the
process validation fails (required field) then the form values are not restored. Instead
the fields are rendered with blank values.
