This way one could include the resource-relocation functionality without including the rest of Faces. The primary reason for this is the current Faces/Weld/Glassfish issues. However, aside from these Weld issues, Faces is rather transparent to include, leaving it up to the JSF developer to take advantage of the increased functionality Faces offers. For this reason, keeping everything in the same artifact is advantageous.
