my 2 cents:
I am a sysadmin, and as such I find it really helpful for troubleshooting
issues to have a better understanding exactly what a system is doing and how
it processes a deployment.
If it is not part of the admin guide at least there should be a reference in
the admin guide to the chapter of the "Advanced Developer" where the
deployment phases are explained.

IMO this doesn't belong in the admin guide.
The admin guide is intended to be used by the average sysadmin
and help them to configure and maintain application server instances.
deployment phases and attachments go way beyond that.
maybe the "Advanced Developer" guide is a more appropriate place.

this I would really appreciate it. If not I will try again later this week
once I've refamiliarized myself with the different parts.

Those who do not understand Unix are condemned to reinvent it, poorly.
Any sufficiently recent Microsoft OS contains an ad hoc,
informally-specified, bug-ridden, slow implementation of half of Unix.
