For SESSION and ATTRIBUTE don't marshal values if UseRegionBasedMarshalling is on
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JBAS-3591
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBAS-3591
Project: JBoss Application Server
Issue Type: Task
Security Level: Public (Everyone can see)
Components: Clustering, Web (Tomcat) service
Reporter: Brian Stansberry
Assigned To: Brian Stansberry
Fix For: JBossAS-5.0.0.CR1
Storing session or attributes in the cache as byte[] or MarshalledValue is unnecessary if region based marshalling is used. Doing it greatly increases the memory footprint of distributed sessions.
Need to benchmark the performance impact of this (could be positive or negative), although the memory savings would outweigh all but a major performance loss.
Can't do this in Branch_4_0 is it breaks binary compatibility.

[JBoss JIRA] Created: (JBWEB-66) basic-auth broken
by Mark Stewart (JIRA)
basic-auth broken
-----------------
Key: JBWEB-66
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBWEB-66
Project: JBoss Web
Issue Type: Bug
Security Level: Public (Everyone can see)
Affects Versions: JBoss Web Server 1.0.0 GA
Environment: Linux
Reporter: Mark Stewart
Assigned To: Mladen Turk
Assuming that Jboss Web is configured identically to the web container in AS, it seems that basic-auth support is broken. That is, the server doesn't send a 401 for protected urls.
Here's the post I made three weeks ago on the Jboss Web Server forum:
"I have a webapp I usually run in JBoss AS that I'm trying to get running under JBossWeb. I've added the same entry to login-module.xml in the default/conf/ directory and a jboss-web.xml file whose <security-domain> tag points at the entry in default/deploy/<my-web-app.war>/WEB-INF. JBossWeb doesn't block the access to the protected pages, however."
This is tested by the J2EE CTS so I guess JBossWeb wasn't tested against it (or the failure was ignored) prior to the GA release.

I have seen this on the 1.4 release on ejb3. Here is what happens. Two nodes replication. When the remote node throws an exception like NPE, the originating node will display with NonSerializableException. I don't a unit test for this but I think it should be easy to reproduce.

Redeploy of Tomcat5 Service chokes with RuntimeException

Suppose you change a flag in jboss-service.xml in deploy/jbossweb-tomcat55.sar/META-INF, a redeploy of the tomcat 5 service happens.
You will notice the following Runtime Exception and the tomcat service fails to deploy.

[JBoss JIRA] Created: (JBPORTAL-983) Upload of large files fails.
by Peter Johnson (JIRA)
Upload of large files fails.
----------------------------
Key: JBPORTAL-983
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBPORTAL-983
Project: JBoss Portal
Issue Type: Bug
Security Level: Public (Everyone can see)
Components: Portal CMS
Affects Versions: 2.4 Final
Environment: Windows XP, JDK 1.5, JBoss AS 4.0.4GA
Reporter: Peter Johnson
Fix For: 2.4 Final
Using the CMS Admin portlet, I attempted to upload a zip file into a directory, as per section 3.2.9 of the User Guide. Initially I tried a zip ofabout 6MB containing many files, and eventually got down to a a zip file of about 500M with only a single Word document inside. The upload failed and an "SQLException: could not reset reader" error appeared (see forum post for stack trace).
I am, however, able to upload very small zip files.
