[JBoss Seam] - Re: SEAM CRUD application has no impact to the DB

just found the problem. the seam app uses the stand along mode of the bundled hsql db rather than the one I configured in hibernate.cfg.xml. it seems seam app read the peristence.xml for the url of the hibernate.cfg.xml. I am just curious: why the persistence.xml automatically configure the data source to its bundled hsqlDB while I am using another hsqldb installation? (is this a bug of the JBOSS IDE) what's the difference of functions between hibernate.cfg.xml and persistence.xml in the seam application? how and where can I define the JNDI name of the data source which required by the persistence.xml? I disagree that the decision class must call actions. - Nodes call actions because that's what nodes do. - Decisions call their decision handlers, because that's what decision nodes do. When you specify the handler on a decision node (in the XML/pdl), you do not use an action, or event. You just give it a handler. This is what is missing from the programmatic way to build a decision node. Also, since it is open source, you don't *have* to worry about committing the code to JBoss. You can just change it for your install, and then have a JIRA issue for it. [Tomcat, HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Getting request parameter value spoils form data encoding

I use JBoss 4.0.4.GA Patch1 with ejb3 profile. I have a form, written in JSF. Encoding of this form is set through | <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=Windows-1250"%> | I have also a filter defined in web.xml which filters all request going to jSF. In such configuration everything works ok. But when I do some debugging in my filter, like: | log.debug("Request encoding [" + req.getCharacterEncoding() + "] type [" + req.getContentType() +"]" ); | Enumeration en = req.getParameterNames(); | for( ; en.hasMoreElements(); ) { | String el = (String)en.nextElement(); | log.debug( "Parametr [" + el + "] value [" + req.getParameter(el) + "]"); | } | I got garbage (ok, this is correct, see thread http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=84678) BUT this value reading spoils encoding of data which goes to JSF page beans - all form data is messed up, in diffrent (and I dont know what) encoding (maybe iso-8859-1). And my question is why READING of request parameters spoils their values later on ? You have a List annotated with @DataModel (here: private List hotels). This list is being used as the <h:dataTable>'s value. Seam is integrated into the JSF lifecycle so well, that every time a link in a table row is clicked, Seam populates the DataModelSelection property (here: private Hotel selectedHotel) with the corresponding object represented in that table row. Well, and hotelBooking then just accesses this property of hotelSearching. btw: I would like to know if it's really necessary to pass the hotelSearching bean to the hotelBooking bean. I would prefer passing the selected hotel directly instead of resolving it via hotelSearch.getSelectedHotel(). In my opinion the way it's done now increases coupling of the classes (HotelBooking needs Hotel AND HotelSearching) and that's a bit unaesthetic.
