[JBoss Portal] - Page policy redirect policy not working

Hi, I am using jboss-portal-2.6.2.GA. I am trying to achieve a problem which I am sure some of you have already solved. I am trying to redirect the user after login when he has no access to the given portal page. The use case is that some of our users bookmark a page that is for password change only. Once user changed the password the access to this page is revoked. So, when user tries to login naturally access is denied and the default page (403) is displayed. I added the following lines to the -object.xml: | <property> | <name>control.page.access_denied</name> | <value>/WEB-INF/jsp/redirect.jsp</value> | </property> | I also set 'When access to the page is denied' to Redirect to the specified resource and 'On error redirect to this resource' to /WEB-INF/jsp/redirect.jsp in the the Admin module -> portal -> portal properties. My problem is that the page still displays the original message: HTTP Status 403 - type Status report message description Access to the specified resource () has been forbidden. JBossWeb/2.0.0.GA How can I set the page policy to redirect me to my own jsp? Thanks in advance! S. Peter, I guess I'd prefer not to waste your time (or anyone else that might help me) to debug a Sun tool if there is a better, more reliable way to go... I was led down this path as a newbie by following any example I got from the JBoss site (some book on JBoss). If there is another example, or simple docs that'll walk me thru sending a complex type, by all means I am eager to go that route instead! I looked at the logging.properties file and found the answer to your question. You can do likewise. If you are unclear on one of the configuration options, you can always ask about that. For the example, I don't have any output from java logging (never use it), but anything written using System.out.println() would show up in the same way. I lowered the memory and am getting the same performance as before (as expected I suppose). Any other ideas as to what is limiting the system? You can write a resource adapter that accepts connections to invoke EJBs, or one that establishes connections to remote systems, even with transactions, or both. So see the SOAP messages on the server, edit the server/xxx/conf/jboss-log4j.xml file, uncommenting the org.jboss.ws.core.MessageTrace category. To see them on the client provide a log4j config file that enables the same category. Also, have you tried removing the "byte[] photo" field? I am guessing that it might be the cause. If it works without that, we will at least know where to focus our effort. I was about to say "Please post your mapping.xml file.", but decided to check the options before I did so to make sure that it was not a file that was being generated. But there is no such thing as wscompile in JBoss Web Services. There is a wsconsume, wsprovide, and wsrunclient (and a wstools, but it is for the old-style web services). And based in the command line, it appears that wscompile is part of Sun's web service's implementation. You really need to sue the JBoss Web Service tools. [Remoting] - JBoss AS and Server sockets

I have a legacy system that uses sockets to communicate with other application. I'm developping an EJB3 based application that will be hosted in JBoss 4.2.3 application server. Communication between my J2EE application and my legacy application uses sockets. Legacy app starts one socket server and my J2EE app should starts its own server socket. My first idea was to start my server socket in the J2EE app in a MBean and then to code socket communication as if I was in a j2SE application. It does not sound very J2EE fashion. My constraint is that I can not change the legacy app that is coded in C. Is there other solutions ? In there something I can reuse from remoting ?
