i'm having the same issue: the new InitialContext() sometimes picks up the apache tomcat properties instead of the jboss ones... what is the correct way to configure tomcat to use the jndi implementation supplied w/ jboss ejb3? [JBoss Seam] - Re: invoke a Seam component outside the context of a web app

Thanks for the quick response, Actually I'm starting the EJB container using EJB3StandaloneBootstrap.boot(); Then I have a EJB3StandaloneDeployer deploy the EJBs. Seam doesn't start the EJB container, but because my EJB package contains the ejb-jar.xml file, the SeamInterceptor gets installed before Seam is initialized. What I'd like to do is to deploy the EJBs in the container without installing the SeamInterceptor, access the EJBs and install the SeamInterceptor just before deploying my webapp (which will initialize Seam). In other words, I'd like to "upgrade" my EJBs to Seam components right before starting Seam. What I don't know is: Is there a way to install the SeamInterceptor in the EJB container (or in the JBoss Micro Container) after it has been started and before Seam gets initialized (or maybe it doesn't matter if the SeamInterceptor is installed after Seam initialization) ? [Beginners Corner] - Re: Cannot see page

I have a follow up question: I'm trying to create a helloworld app to test. I put the helloworld.ear file that I created into: c:\jboss\server\all\deploy but when I go to "http://localhost:8080/hello" it does not run and says page cannot be found. my application.xml file in my META-INF folder of my helloworld app contains the following: <?xml version="1.0" ?> - <display-name>Hello Java EE World!</display-name> - - <web-uri>web-app.war</web-uri> <context-root>/hello</context-root> Any ideas? Thanks Norman. I found that in the process of digging. Everything works fine and I'm able to log the user in, however, I can't seem to redirect to the first screen of the application (user-search.jsp). The URL looks like this: http://localhost:8080/myapp/login.seam?id=dKGvK69gCCxqbM9Ud1RS30mhXYBOI08e The create method of that login component looks like this: @Create | public String login() { | //decode userkey | //query for user | if(user == null){ | return "/login.jsp"; | }else{ | //go to first page | return "/private/user-search.jsp"; | } | } While debugging, it gets to the else condition but always goes to login.jsp instead of user-search.jsp. This appears to be how Seam is designed to work. The question is, can I go to a some other Seam action, other than the originally requested view-id from the create method? I only want the user to go to the requested view-id if there was a problem (not able to log in), otherwise they can pass through.
