I reinstalled JBOSS 4.0.5 GA and during install, in the JMX Security page I unchecked all options. Now I can start and stop the server with Eclipse. No. You simply can't do this like that. This is the same problem as "I want to download a file that I store in database from inside a portlet and .setContentType() doesn't work...". Portal agregates content from all portlets on the portal page, so you always generate only page fragment in a portlet. If you have the static file in your web archive then use DIRECT URL to it. If it's dynamic content you MUST use an URL to servlet that will do the job for you. [JBoss and NetBeans] - JBOSS 4.0.5 GA and netbeans problem starting server

I Downloaded JBOSS netbeans IDE and tryied to use it with JBOSS 4.0.5GA. When I start the JBOSS 4.0.5 from the IDE, Netbeans starts the server but doesn't recognize it was started, I mean, the server is started by Netbeans and after it Netbeans shows again the Run/Debug buttons like if the server were not started. If I try to start it again, Netbeans shows an error messages indicating the 8080 port is already in use. Any tip? [Beginners Corner] - Creating a Portal from JSP Pages

I am trying to create a jsp portal using some jsp pages that a developer created. His file structure is a bit different than the one used in the "HelloWorldJSPPortlet" example in the documentation. I follow the documentation but it doesn't seem to register in as a Portlet when I deploy the WAR file. I can create an instance of the object but it registers as an existing portlet instead of creating a new jsp portlet. Here are a few questions that I have that if answered may help solve my issues. 1. What is the recommended file structure for the project or .war file? 2. Do portlet tags need to be added to the jsp files? If so, what would they be in the most simpliest example? 3. What needs to be in my .java file in the most simpliest example? The HelloWorld example is not clear enough and/or is too difficult to mimic. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any "real world" jsp deployment examples would be very helpful. Thanks! Please post the exception stacktrace that you are seeing. Also when you say you want to use a third party parser, what exactly did you do? You will just have to drop the thrid party jar in your application classpath and start using its classes in your code. You need create a direct link to a file not a portlet URL . For static file use request.getContextPath() For dynamic file create an URL to a servlet in the same web application and pass data to it using PortletSession.APPLICATION_SCOPE.
