Looks like it was the key that it couldn't find. Your question prompted me to take another look at the properties file. In it I had properties like: | commDevice.title.name=Name | commDevice.title.version=Version | Which then I changed to the following... and it worked! | commDeviceTitleName=Name | commDeviceTitleVersion=Version | Thank you very much for your prompt reply! thanks for the reply... we did try to follow the steps in: http://labs.jboss.com/portal/jbossseam/gettingstarted but when we got to the examples it all got messed up.. the first two (booking & dvd) did not even pass the build step.. we got a "bad file" (or something like that) error... the third one (issues) passed the build step but we couldnt open it in the browser (bad deployment or something). since that did not work out we searched for more info but that (as i wrote before) only confused us more.... any ideas? thanks! [JBoss Seam] - Problems loading messages.properties in my first Seam applic

I have tried to fashion my seam application after the examples and dvdstore and numberGuess examples do work. But I am having problems with my own application. The .xhtml page tries to load message.properties but, for some reason, can't. This file is in WEB-INF/classes in the war file. I'd very much appreciate any tips on what could be wrong! 1. Go to the Seam getting started road map and follow the install instructions exactly, don't deviate: http://labs.jboss.com/portal/jbossseam/gettingstarted 2. Read the Seam documentation before you do anything. 3. Work through every example, understanding each piece. 4. Subscribe to this forum and read every post. 5. Post questions if you can't get you answer from 1,2 or 3. I wish I had done that Seam has a steep learning curve, but it promises great benefits and the rewards of faster development in the end. Debian (sarge) JRE 1.5.0_06-b05 eclipse-SDK-3.2.1-linux-gtk.tar.gz jboss-4.0.5.GA-src.tar.gz I am using the DEMO Create a EJB project under <<http://docs.jboss.com/jbosside/jboss-as/NewAndNoteworthy/jbosside2.0.0.be...>> Everything seems to work until I try to create EnterprizeJavaBean. See details of scenario from Eclipse Bug 112816 ----- I found this from the eclipse web site and it describes the problem I'm seeing. Bug id=112816 "I've got xdoclet 1.2.2 installed and, when going through the preferences, the j2ee annotation provider definition for xdoclet appears to be just fine (no warnings/errors within the preference pane). However, when I then try to add a new "Enterprise JavaBean" through the wizard, the window reports that the "Annotation provider definition not valid" but does not indicate why it is invalid here yet fine in the preferences pane. Also as a minor interface defect, if I switch the type to MDB then back to session bean, the message dissapears. At no time does the next/finish buttons become enabled. Clearly if there is something wrong with the environment then I should be able to identify what that is to fix it, but at this point I'm clueless."
