The dom4j for JBoss will always be a modified version that does not contain any of the xpath-related classes (see http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBAS-1970). What we did was package dom4j.jar in the WEB-INF/lib directory of our war file, and that worked fine. Is there any time when a write lock on the cache is necessary? To express the question more clearly, in the Hibernate use case is there a need for locking semantics on the cache stronger than READ_UNCOMMITTED? If not, perhaps READ_UNCOMMITTED would work. It wouldn't work if the contention you're talking about is between writes. You have to try: customer2 = entityManager.merge(customer); | not entityManager.merge(customer); | I think customer2 is merged entity when customer after those codes remains detached. [JBossWS] - Are Axis client calls to JBossWS @WebService services suppos

I'm exposing a simple web service using JBoss 4.0.4.GA, JBossWS 1.0.2.GA, and the @WebService JSR-181 style approach. I'm trying to call it from an Apache Axis 1.2 client. No matter what combination of SOAP body encodings I try on the service and on the client, I get errors from JBossWS complaining about the structure or contents of the incoming SOAP message. I can post further details, but first I'd just like to ask, has JBossWS-Axis interoperability work and testing been done? Or is Axis considered too non-standard? Or this just hasn't been gotten to yet? I haven't seen much discussion of this interop situation in the forum (most Axis references are to the obsolete, old Axis-based JBossWS, which I'm not using). So have others gone down this path, or am I exploring new territory? thanks, J. L. [JBossCache] - Hibernate/Cache conceptual mismatch

One of the things we see a lot in the context of usage from Hibernate is contention due to puts into the cache which logically are not writes. The scenario I am talking about is when Hibernate loads some data from the database and then places that into the second level cache. After Hibernate loads this data from the database, it then does a put into the cache. JBossCache interprets that as a write and issues a write lock. This is what I see as the referenced mismatch. Cache considers itself as the "truth" of the system so far as data state is concerned. However, at least in this usage, that is clearly not the case; the database is the "truth". What really *should* happen in this scenario is for JBossCache to instead acquire a read lock on the created node (unless the user specifies some form of write lock in the db, in which case we may want to also acquire a write lock in the cache; but that's a whole other discussion). So I have given some thought about how to best resolve this. I first thought through using current JBossCache concepts. Like loaders. I think loaders might actually work, except for the fact that they are static for the whole cache instance; for that approach to work for us, we would really need to be able to specify a loader *per invocation*. Next (and to my mind the most viable option) was to introduce a "load' semantic to the API. This is similar to a put, except that here we force JBossCache to only acquire a read lock instead of the write lock. Thoughts? For 2.0.0 release, the Connector.xml has been removed. The Connector is a standard mbean, so does not need the Connector.xml mapping file (has been a standard mbean for a while, but did not remove the Connector.xml till the 2.0.0.CR1 release). So, can just remove the xmbean-dd attribute (i.e. xmbean-dd="org/jboss/remoting/transport/Connector.xml") However, did notice that has not been updated in the docs (will do this now). [EJB 3.0] - NameNotFound after upgrade to latest

I've just upgraded from 4.03 EJB 3 RC6 to 4.04 RC8. I have a servlet that is run on startup, gets info from a database through an EJB and configures the app using it. For some reason the servlet cannot find the EJB under the name specified. Has the jndi address changed since the last upgrade? Previously I was looking up the EJB under: SMSPortal/ShipFacadeBean/local (SMSPortal being the ear file). I assume this convention has changed?
