[Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - Help needed in making a jms web based client in jboss

[Installation, Configuration & Deployment] - dom4j.jar shipped with Jboss 4.0.4.GA causing problems

Hi all, I'm developing an application that uses a 3rd party reporting engine (Windward). The reporting engine requires the latest version of dom4j.jar (currently version 1.6.1). Since Jboss provides its own (rather old?) version of dom4j.jar this version will be loaded by the "global" class loader and this cause problems. To solve this problem I have replaced the dom4j.jar provided with jboss with a never version. My questions: - Will future releases of jboss be shipped with an upgraded version of dom4j? - Is there any way I can avoid patching the jboss installation? (Maybe there is a nice config file I can use to influence the class loader...?) - Are there any important dependencies between jboss GA and the dom4j version it contains that I should know of? getHeaders() and getHeader() and getHeaderNames() would all be implemented delegating to getProperties(), getProperty() and getPropertyNames(), that would return portal http request values. Would that be sufficient ? I am reluctant to add specific hacks for a particular library as it could conflict with some other library that would need a different return value for example. Advantage of JAAS is that it deeply integrated into JEE. EJB3 allows you to have method access security, Seam gives you isUserInRole, userPrincipal components, Tomahawk gives you attributes to disable/hide the JSF component and probably some more which I'm unaware of :). The one thing I haven't seen is a nice way of authenticating using a Seam component. It is a bit difficult getting JAAS set up, but once all the xml files are correct it does 'just work'; there is a security example on the wiki which should get you going (be careful to put all the xml files in the correct archive and in the correct place (META-INF or archive root)). Hi, Iam trying to develope a web service for a complex data type like java.util.ArrayList. I have successfully developed the web service using WSTools . It's a limitation in JSF. If JSF component has (required=false && value=null) then any validators attached won't be fired. In some ways it makes sense (e.g. you will always want an email address to be well formed, but you might not always require it to be input). [JBoss Seam] - What's the best way to secure "user" pages (login)?

Like all other web apps out there, we have Users who can sign up and get a password, and then they log in. I have a handy LoginAction session bean which handles the login part of it. It checks the password and if the user si correct, the user is installed in the session. Back in the days of servlets, I would always have a simple authentication filter that would just look in the session to see if this user is logged in. Is that still the best way to do this, or is there some nicer way? I was thinking of using JAAS but that looked like a nightmare of complexity compared to a plain old Filter.
