[JBoss Seam] - Re: How to initialize application state (defaults)?

I have the same situation. I don't know how to solve the two-persistence-contexts problem (I'm not using jbpm in my app). I'm planning to set my import.sql to populate some LocalConfiguration table with some initial "unset" state, and set hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto=create (as opposed to create-drop) in my persistence.xml. Then theoretically the first time it runs it will create the database and populate it with the "configuration not yet set" state. Then my Seam app can see that state pre-existing in the database, put up the correct "How do you want to configure your new installation?" screens, and off we go. So use a Tomcat plugin or Apache plugin or something to mung your URL into request parameters that work with Seam out of the box. OK, I think I have tracked down the source of the problem. There is a partial JAXB api in jboss-j2ee.jar. I believe this is conflicting with my own JAXB jars. If I remove my own jars, then it can not find javax.xml.bind.Element, which does not exist in the jboss-j2ee.jar Is there a work-around? That's a nice stab at an explanation, but it can't be the whole story. Works just great! I've never needed to use @PersistenceContext anywhere else in my app. And I have an EntityManager Seam component in my resources/WEB-INF/components.xml: <component name="entityManager" class="org.jboss.seam.core.ManagedPersistenceContext"> | <property name="persistenceUnitJndiName">java:/entityManagerFactory</property> | </component> So why doesn't Seam's application scope support injecting that EntityManager with @In, when Seam's session scope does support it? I had the same problem, my mistake was that I downloaded a wrong version of the JBoss example code. Be sure to download the bundle there are at the documentation page, just at the right of the online version of the getting started documentation. [JBoss Seam] - Friendly URLs (e.g. /request/parameter1/parameter2)

I would like to use "friendly URLs" in some places of my application. Examples would be: http://www.example.com/gallery/20/12 http://www.example.com/articles/some-interesting-article vs. http://www.example.com/gallery?id=20&img=12 http://www.example.com/articles?name=some-interesting-article Are there any (decent, non-hackish) ways to do that using Seam? It wouldn't be too hard to rewrite incoming URLs in Apache or later on, but what about the URLs generated by the JSF/Seam tags? Having to rewrite URLs does look kind of hackish to me, too. I'd prefer to plug in some sort of parser and generator for certain requests.
