[EJB 3.0] - Using embeddable EJB 3.0 in portlet applications

Hi there, I'm looking for any possible way to take use of the new EJB 3.0 technology with a standalone tomcat servlet engine. Actually i'm using tomcat 5.5.17. Because portlet applications are simple web applications that run together to generate a portal page, I need access to the EntityManager from diferent servlet contexts. I followed the examples about jboss_embeddable_EJB3 but if I try to bootstrap the EJB 3.0 container from diferent portlet apps I get a bunch of exceptions informing about some names already bounded to the JNDI context. Does anyone know any way to do this? [EJB 3.0] - Define datasource at runtime on embedded container

Hi, What are the basics steps to define a datasource at runtime? Our application is running very well via Webstart. All the jars are signed, because of security requirements. The problem comes when we need to distribute our app to our users and try to install it on their web servers. Then we need to modify the datasource, which is defined inside embedded-jboss-beans.xml, which was placed inside a archive, which is signed. We have found the process to be very complex to open archive, edit xml, rebuild archive and sign it again - specially the last step. If we could define de datasource in a separate file and load it ourselves in our code, we could solve the problem without touching the archives. Thanks in advance. That could very well be the issue. When there's a topology change, basically one thread loops through all the services that are monitoring the cluster notifying them of the change. Eventually those calls reach your singletons. If each of those singletons then takes a long time starting, the whole process will be slow. If the startup of a singleton is going to take a long time and it can be done asynchronously, it's definitely better to do it that way. Great, That fixed it. Thanks Gavin I had copied the newuser.jpdl.xml file from the dvd example which has start-state instead of start-page In fact all the jpdl examples from the cvs have start-state, confusing! Wouldnt there be a way to validate the schema or dtd to catch the problem earlier and make sure others dont fall into the same trap as me? If you check the "Tips" section of Wiki, the "Seam Projects in Eclipse" section has two links to wiki pages that might be of some help in setting up projects from scratch using Eclipse and Ant. They are admittedly not Maven and don't show all the other cool examples you mentioned. [JBoss Seam] - ..:: Questions about Seam design!!!

First off all: Sorry for my english Well , after a lot of in and out about Seam, JSF and EJB3 first experience development, now i'm using the 3 in a big, very big project... But when i look some aspects of the design i think that's go against what i learned, i think... help me to clarify that issues. Seam components seems to go against the 3 layered architecture... In the Seam examples the same bean save the object and make a query(DAO), put a message in a facesMessages (Controller) and make some bussiness validation and bussines proccess (bussines/service )... The problems that go with that everybody kwons. This architecture just works with a JSF, EJB3 and Seam technology. Another think is that i have learned that a SessionBean must have the bussiness methods, for example, a doctor CRUD methods is in the DoctorManagerBean, but with Seam i put navigation a action listeners methods too and some others like for component binding, so my session bean is not reusable in another ambient... I'm do that because is that way that i learn Seam. The examples works like that... But can i separete the corcerns? Seam support that? do i lost my conversations if i my state is held in a SFSB that Seam not managed? What the best solution?
