Two options. 1) You can run the examples that I posted on the Wiki. It can be found from the cvs under Branch_JBossCache_1_4_0, tests/scripts/readme.txt. 2) Use your own example and do inspect the log file (under DEBUG). If you only do field update, you should see only _put() but no putObject(). Does that make sense? Sorry, I'm confused. What do you mean "starts second"? As I understand it there are two servers. #1 is running (and will therefore provide state to #2 when #2 starts) and #2 is starting. JBoss uses multiple threads so it can make use of multiple CPUs (we do it all the time here). In Linux, there is a kernel option that indicates if threads appear as pcoesses or not. It's been a while since I worked with that option so I don't recall what it is off hand. as marshall says, but i've also considered adding more direct support for it (as a Hibernate Instrument builder) but it just haven't been a priority.
