Agathon explained very well the problem. On an action phase you get 2 requests, the request attributes don't survive the first request. We actually have the same problem on the JSF-bridge, Stan fixed the problem on the JSF bridge of MyFaces. Maybe you could push this problem to the Struts bridge developers ? [Management, JMX/JBoss] - An example of EJB application using JBoss Scheduler/Timer

I'd appreciate if you could point me to an example of an implementation where an EJB in an application receives a periodic callback from a JMX Scheduler/Timer. How does this application registers itself with such scheduler? I configured a JMX scheduler and gave it the class name of an EJB of an application. But the problem is that Scheduler gets started before the application and I get an exception about not finding the class. I am not quite sure how to make the scheduler dependent on the application. There are a few posts to this effect, but they are not quite clear to me. I'd prefer a solution where each application registers itself with the scheduler as different applications can "come" and "go". I'd appreciate all suggestions. Hello. you can check the permission on a role by using the request.isUserInRole("myRole") It would return true if the user has the role "myRole". Would that be enough for you ? (if you define new roles other than "user" and "admin" you need to define them in portlet.xml so that it can work. See the JSR 168 specifications for more details.) I hope this will help. [JBoss Portal] - Re: Best way to learn

This seems to be a general problem with any request attribute you set. The attribute is not visible to the JSP view page. Adding any attribute name you use to the struts-portlet-config.xml does seem to make it work, but this isn't a very good solution if you're trying to port an existing Struts application which may be using request attributes everywhere. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? The sample struts application on the JBoss web site seems to carefully avoid ever using request attributes, but it seems like standard thing to do. It sounds to me like you are on the right track - use pageflows for short-lived tasks (e.g. the user completes the task in one sitting) and processes for over-arching stuff (e.g. managing a process made up of many tasks which are completed in many sittings). I use JBoss Portal 2.6.0 Developer Release 1 I am developing custom navigation portlet and I need to check permission of current user for particular page in order to display/not-to-display it in my navigation control. Can you tell me please, how can I do this (check permission). I see that this fucntionality can be implemented using PortalAuthorizationManagerFactory, but how can I obtain it from within portlet? Hi Andreas, I think this is a problem with the newer version (3.2.0.GA) of hibernate that ships with 4.0.5GA. I had a query that worked with Hibernate version 3.2.0CR2 but on "upgrading" to the final release the query did not work, because i was also getting a null pointer exception (exactly the same as yours). There is a bug for it in the Hibernate JIRA http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-2159, it is a really simple fix if you want to do it yourself. It sounds like you have two seperate problems here - the first is due to hibernate - you haven't what your setup is - EEJB3? The hibernate jars were probably updated between Seam versions. The second is because you have two Seam components with the same name. Seam used to just (randomly I think) choose one, now it errors. Fix this (look at the component before the error message to find which one is the problem) and the second error should go away.
