[JBoss Seam] - SQLServer TEXT field type causes Hibernate error

I used Seam to create a new project and generate entities from an existing database (MS SQLSERVER2000). One of the tables has a TEXT field type. The entity was correctly created by the seam generator to use a String for that variable, however on deployment the Hibernate validator throws an exception: "Wrong column type: my_text_field, expected: varchar(255)" Hibernate should map TEXT to a String. Where is Hibernate getting its information about this mapping and how can I change it? I solved the Binding issue, it was because of some mistakes in my network config files. I do have another problem. My 2nd set of nodes aren't joining my cluster, & I'm not sure why. I get the following message in server.log: anonymous wrote : WARN [org.jgroups.protocols.pbcase.NAKACK] [...] discarded message from non-member my view is [...] Is there something else I must do to get my 2nd set of nodes to be able to join the original cluster? The "PartitionName" and cluster configurations are mirror images of the original. (with the exception of my Apache-modjk mappings) Please help. After a lot of trying around, I've put the search criteria-string into an object, so that I can control the getter and setter for it. With the setter looking like this | this.criteria = new String(criteria.getBytes("ISO-8859-1"), "UTF-8"); | The search works when the criteria is sent as a page parameter, though it breaks the original form-request. My conclusion based on this is that the form sends a utf-8-encoded string, but the get-request parameter is ISO-8859-1-encoded. If this seems like a reasonable explanation, is there a way around this? Where can I set the encoding for the page parameters?
