Baby steps..... Ok, I'm now almost 100% certain that the cause of all my problems lies in the use of the iframe. It appears that conversations do not span over iframes.... now from all my reading and the way I understand conversations this should not be the case! Am I right in assuming this? And if so, does anyone have any idea why my conversation is non-existent when inside the iframe? We found it was usefull to use jBossAOP to address orthogonal behavior lke performance metrics. And you are not restricted to jboss-aop.xml, you could use annotations too. However we did prefer using the XML file as it provides more flexibility. I'm a little unsure of what your saying. The wiki page that I posted IS about using the JCA adatper. There are 3 other wiki pages, but this one is the one for the JCA adapter. The information found in the jboss wiki page is the same as the ibm link absent the troubleshooting and the Install verification. The same instructions are to create an Admin object and then create your connection factory using the JCA adapter published by IBM. I am planning on rewriting them and when I do, I will add a link to the ibm wiki page from the jboss wiki page. Well, to make matters even more confusing it seems as though this has absolutely nothing to do with the pdf at all. I created another straight xhtml file that uses the variable and put it in the iframe and NOTHING! The variable | @DataModelSelection(value="averagingEnquiry_uvAveragings") | @Out(required=false, scope=CONVERSATION, value="averagingEnquiry_uvAveraging") | private UvAveraging uvAveraging; | is not available at all. There is something really strange going on here with conversation management. Somehow my conversations are ending without me specifically telling seam to do so. I am thoroughly confused right now and I am starting to wonder if doing a simple conversation like this is this hard what am I looking at when I start developing the larger application in a few weeks time *sigh*. I'm assuming I have done something really stupid....but right now I just can't seem to find it! I get no errors, I get no messages.....just nothing. Well, I'm almost to point of losing my hair!!! I suggest this be controlled with a configuration flag rather than relying on the presence/absence of an mbean server. The behavior of moving an mbean through create/start/stop/destroy is not inherent in an mbean server; it's a special function of JBoss AS. So, you could have JBC running in the presence of an mbean server that would not call stop/destroy for you. Theoretically, you could also have JBC running in a pure microcontainer version of JBoss AS 5 where there is no mbean server. But that AS would still have its own ShutdownHook that takes care of create/start/stop/destroy and would not want JBC's own hook getting in the way. This is not an urgent thing; in the real world JBoss AS always has an mbean server, so the existing JBCACHE-1204 fix stops the problem of the JBC shutdown hook screwing up an AS shutdown. This was not answered properly, but from what you say it looks like at least 2.2 is not currently possible. 3. I'm using sync replication anyway, at least for now, but the question was about the cache loader (which has to be async for performance reasons). I can implement this feature manually (to have each instance attempt to flush the changes from the whole cluster to db, asynchronously), but I was hoping JBC already had this option.
